My Experience With Mono & Sinus Infections

Now that I am almost back to 100% health, I figured I would write about the importance of staying healthy and the idea of how to avoid getting mono transmitted to you...my fans.

On November 26, 2005 I came home from a friend's party, and had a horrible headache and an even worse fever. I don't know about you but I like fevers just as much as I like being ripped apart by a pack of wolves. They're no good.

On top of having mono, I had a nice case of a sinus infection. To make a long story short, I went to the hospital, found out I had mono and a sinus infection, they gave me an antibiotic for my sinus infection (because mono is a virus and it can't be treated), the antibiotics dehydrated me and I had to go back to the hospital and have an an IV stuck in me, then I had glands that were swollen all the way down under my chin, then I was prescribed steroids, then I got better.

All of this happened the week before finals.

Luckily, the steroids helped a lot. They made me feel like a whole new man. Luckily, I was able to take my finals because I was feeling much better (although I did almost pass out as I was climbing the stairs to one of my classes...but don't tell anyone because that's embarassing).

In conclusion, if you are one of those people that makes out with everyone, make sure you know if they have had mono before, and if they have had it within the last 6 months, say no to mono. Furthermore, if you like to drink after people, then stop. Trust me, you DO NOT want to get this.

Being the dedicated fan that you are (for reading this blog), I am concerned for your health. I would hope that anyone reading this would stay as healthy as can be. I mean I'm not saying that anyone that doesn't read this shouldn't be concerned. But why should I worry about people that don't read this? You are the chosen ones.

Take care of your body.

A Look Back at 2005

2005 turned out to be not such a bad year. A lot of bad things happened, and a lot of good things happened. However, I can say with a certain amount of optimism that 2005 has set me up to make 2006 a lot better than the year before.

Here are some highlights of my version of 2005.

Exceptional Friendships - This year was a test for not only my friends but for me as well. I learned a lot about what I will tolerate in friendships, and what people will tolerate about me. One thing I learned that I don't think a lot of people will ever be able to do is to be at peace with myself and accept the fact that believe it or not, it is sometimes beneficial and "OK" to change my views. A lot of people will say, "Well this is who I am, and I am not changing for anybody." And, while this is a very bold, and usually positive statement, there are some instances where the person needs to look deeper in to his or her character and realize that there might be some things that might actually NEED to be changed to live a better life. Unfortunately, most people believe they are at a point of all-knowing, and that his or her life is the best that it can be. Admittingly, I was like that. However, after a very important argument with one of my best friends over the summer, I realized that my life can be a lot easier and less stressful if I step back and look at my options rather than saying, "I am not changing for anyone." No one is perfect, and the odds of anyone being 100% at peace with themself is too bad, because I feel there is always a need to step back and obvserve behaviors no matter where you are in life. As a result of this, I have sifted, and weeded through the people that will be with me for the rest of my life. There were many heartbreaks and arguments along the way, but now I know who the soldiers are that will help me battle through the challenges of growing up, and becoming who I am and who I will be.

Exceptional Schooling - Finally, I transferred to WVU. A lot of people didn't think I would actually do it, which made the move that much better. I am glad to be there, and can't wait to be done at the same time!

Additions to the Family - On December 21, 2005, Dayvion Antonio Coffman became my favorite (and only) newphew! Words can't express how excited I am to be a part of his life.

I may add more to this post as it comes to me!

Even If I Hate You, You Should Still Have a Nice [Religious Holiday]

Over the years, I have built a tower of friends, and a stump of enemies. Most people would say, "Hey enemy, shut up and die on [religious holiday]." I, however, don't think that hateful enemies should have a horrible time during the holidays.

If there is one time of the year that a person that has hate in his or her heart should get a bye, it should be during the holidays. This is the time of year that peoples' lives change for the better. Now is the best time of any for that hateful, stubborn, vengeful, racist, pitiful person to change his or her ways for the better, and start to live a fuller, happier, indiscriminiative life.

Unfortunately, these types of people can't see past their own views, so the hopes of any kind of swing in to a better life, is pushing optimism towards foolishness.

Even if you are my enemy, I wish you a very happy or merry [religious holiday].
